01. Cycle

My proudest work yet, solely created to raise funds for charity for the working poor population in Hong Kong. As much as it holds significant social purpose, it is the most valuable to me. The connection between me and this occasion and the artwork is simple. This portrays my personal growth into becoming an empath, making real, concrete and important changes to society -- reflecting on my past self.

By using clay, I formed them in the shape of little rocks, resembling my desire to be solid and stable. I then overlaid two books to use them as a base for collage of other media. Books are crucial for rearranging and writing down thoughts, noises and chaos in the mind. On the books' surfaces, I assembled my notes about random thoughts that define me. A light layer of pages was burnt to represent the depth of myself as a person.
