01. Cycle

As a person who holds on to the past, I decided to view myself in the past from the perspective of myself in the present. As a result, I have illustrated the essentials and process of my growth as an individual after questioning what made me a better and wiser person. I realised that I refrained from certain things to avoid becoming vulnerable. By using clay, I shaped and formed them like little rocks, which represent my desire to be solid and stable. I then overlaid two books to use them as a base for collage of other medium. Books have always been an important object for me to rearrange and write down my thoughts. On the book’s surface, I assembled my notes about random thoughts that define me. A light layer of pages was burnt to represent the depth of my story and myself as a person. I believe time allows me to improve and mature, which is also an uncontrollable phenomenon causing unexpected situations.
